Khmer Mission Center – COMPLETE, kinda

It’s been about three years since we first started discussing the idea of our multi-use building. We are incredibly thankful to all of your prayers and donations that have made this possible. We are thankful for all the hard work to all those behind the scenes to put this together.

We truly hope KMC will provide a safe, stable site for God’s kingdom work to continue through the different ministries of our team. Here’s a glimpse of what’s already happening at the new building:

  1. Khmer Christian Church (KCC)

The students have moved into their dorm rooms, ladies and men on different floors. We had our first Sunday worship on June 11. They have continued their weekly band class. Once we get settled in, we hope to begin to have outreach classes. Thankfully we already have some relationships in the neighborhood through the Food Bank ministry during COVID.

  2. Word of Life (WOL) – Tuesday Night Theology Classes.

Every Tuesday for many years, we have been having theology classes for the students in our ministry. Our teammate, Brennan, has been going through the book of Mark with the students. Despite long days of school and work, these students come excited to learn. And now they’re enjoying their new classroom.

  3. MTW Office

One floor is dedicated to our team office. We had our first monthly meeting, followed by our monthly team worship. We invited the Tuesday night class students and dorm students to join.

  4. Worship Institute – We hope to train worship leaders to compose and produce new Khmer praise music. Orchea and his wife, Sophear and their daughter Hakretaey, are from the Angk’jeay ministry (Smiths & John Lee). Orchea hopes to lead this ministry and has already begun his training and work.

PLEASE PRAY

  • Thank the Lord for providing all that it took to make this happen – from the concept, planning & construction, coordination and cooperation, to funding. Already we see that how it has been a blessing. We see much potential to serve the body as well as the community.
  • Continued Construction – there are still many little details that need to be completed in and around the building. Currently, they are replacing the sewer pipes to accommodate for the increase of people in the area.

  • Protection – The reality of the spiritual warfare is a constant but especially in the beginning of new ministries. Please pray for God’s protection as well as His favor with the village chief and neighbors. Pray that the students will be safe, especially as they travel from work/school at night.
  • Blessing – Pray that the Lord will allow us to be a Light int he neighborhood. Pray that we can be ambassadors of Christ. Pray that as we start outreach activities, the Holy Spirit will be preparing hearts and allow us to participate and witness His Kingdom work.

  1. Paul and Susan,

Thank you for your update. I’ve forwarded it to our church leadership and I’ve submitted a short request for the weekly email to our entire congregation.

It is encouraging to see the Khmer Mission Center in operation providing so many services.
